Due to extensive water damage, the Fitness Center continues to be CLOSED.  We are now anticipating that the fitness center will re-open on Wednesday, September 1, but please check the website for further updates. 

 

We apologize for the inconvenience.  We will credit all members’ accounts for three months for the time we are closed.

All exercise and aerobic classes have been relocated.  Please contact the Recreation Department for class locations.

 The Shorewood Community Fitness Center has been in operation since February 1998. The Shorewood Community Fitness Center was made possible by generous gifts from Larry and Jane Gellman and Bill and Marion Nasgovitz as well as numerous other families, individuals, and community groups. This center is a gift to the community to promote the vitality, health and well-being of youth, student-athletes and adults.

Shorewood Community Fitness Center Advisory Committee

The Shorewood Fitness Center Advisory Committee (FCAC) developed in May, 1998, shall advise the Fitness Center Manager and the Director of Recreation and Community Services on the operation of the fitness center for all participants.  The committee consist of six (6) Fitness Center Members, two (2) High School students, one (1)    Health Education instructor,  SHS/SIS Athletic Director, Fitness Center Manager, and the Director of Recreation   and Community Services Department. The committee meets four (4) times per year and at other times as needed. Responsibilities of the FCAB include identifying exercise and health related needs of the community, evaluate effectiveness of the fitness center programs and help identify financial and personnel resources to support the operation of the fitness center.

2009-2010 Shorewood Community Fitness Center Advisory Committee: 

 Customer service surveys are completed every two years.  Our membership provides us with daily verbal feedback on our improvements needed and our successes.  The SHS Health Instructors also provide the fitness center with feedback on a regular basis.
